A modern underground nicknamed Clockwork Orange opened in 1980 but first the original underground opened in 1896 and footage is shown of this subway system in 1950's and again in 1970's. On closure in 177 much of the system was best part a working museum and shown is a travelling crane, car 41 and car 32. Also shown is station being dug out, tunnels opened and at St Enoch station high up is cement supported by a cement raft. Steam trains on the Argyll line and it's reopening. Footage also shows cab rides, control centre and depot workings and cars being put in the washer at Govan workshops. Finally is the new trailer cars undergoing tests for the underground reopening in April 1980 to modern standards including new rolling stock number 100 to 133 which runs back to back and stations renamed
