This is the fourth in the highly popular Lost London series. It looks at some of the minor lines around metropolis. Some have gone and others survive but in a greatly changed state. Some had steam trains, others diesel or electric. Introduced by Jim Connor of the London Railway Record magazine, we visit the following lines and branches: West Drayton to Staines West. Uxbridge Vine Street on its last day. Hounslow West - the original station. Belmont to Harrow ("new" archive footage). Croxley Green branch and depot showing British Rail trains. The 1938 tube stock still running to Watford Junction. The line that never happened - Edgware to Bushey. The 1938 New Works - Huge concrete fly-over constructions were finally demolished and the Aldenham depot (Leyton Bus Works) was pulled down. Aylesbury High Street station on its last day. Underground now, Drayton Park Depot - last day of 1938. Tube trains, the Ongar branch, with three different films made in the steam era, and the story since then including the last train leaving in 1994. We followed what has happened with scenes filmed since. Kensington - Olympia steam services for Post Office workers. Then briefly - a tour of south London visits Bricklayers Arms, and Smithfield Market once had trains arriving in its basement at a special goods platform. We see meat going up in a hoist. New footage shot today shows the surviving remains. Coulsdon North station and trains, Elmers End to Addiscombe and Wimbledon to West Croydon, closed recently, most of which will be incorporated into Croydon Tramlink. On the last day of service on both branches our cameras were at various locations. Witness the last train from West Croydon. Black and white and colour film
