This pre-owned, hardback book with jacket and 220 pages is in fairly satisfactory condition given its age. It was written by Francis E Bowker and published in 1972.
This book is a tale of two voyages. In the winter of 1937, Bowker went as seaman in the American four-masted coasting schooner, ALVENA, from New York to Nova Scotia. She was a tired old schooner. With much difficulty she made her destination though with difficulties.
Next Bowker shipped out in a Nova Scotian three master, the E P THERIAULT, bound from Lunenburg to Georgetown, British Guiana, thence to the Essequibo River and on to Grenada.
