To celebrate the Centenary of the branch line to Chesham in 1989, London Underground, with the co-operation of the local authorities, decided to run two weekends of steam trains. Steam traction had ceased on the line in 1960, so it created quite some interest. A natural choice had to be Met No. 1, based nearby at the Buckingham Railway Centre and already in Metropolitan livery. Also on duty Pannier Tank No. 9466 which came from Didcot. Well-known electric loco 'Sarah Siddons' was on the other end of the trains. Pushing or pulling! Moving to next year - 1990 - steam trains ran from Amersham to Harrow on the Hill, a busy interchange station on the main Metropolitan railway. This time B.R. Standard Class 4 No. 80080 was brought down from the Midland Railway Centre to haul trains backed by L.T. Battery Loco L44. No. 80080 alternated trains with double-headed Met No. 1 and the Pannier for the two weekends of the event. This DVD covers every day of the two weekends of both years. It has full sequences of all the main activity and contains many passes on route, not just stuck on platform ends! Also it has inside cab shots of No. 80080 and interiors of the signal boxes concerned.
